Heating up

In hair it was time to get to basics and to grips with heated tools for the hair (Crimpers, Straightener, Curling wand, Curling Tong)

No matter what heating device your doing make sure you section correctly for these style I started by sectioning an inch above the nape of the neck and then taking one inch separate sections to style, then going up another inch or 2 inches and repeating till the entire head is done.

Straightening the hair, this is really simple grab your straightening iron and  taking a section of hair as described above, clamp the hair between the two ceramic plates and slowly pull down the hair shaft until the hair is straight, repeat around the rest of the hair. Finish the hair with a smoothing serum to keep the hair sleek.

Curling the hair, Grab your curling wand (curling wands come in many sizes I used a 1 inch barrel) using the sectioning method I described above section the hair, then wrap the hair around the barrel in the direction that the hair is going to fall in, hold for a couple of seconds and release from the curling wand. Every new section on the way up and around the head change direction so if you curl to the right at the nape the next inch section up would be curled to the left and the next section up would be to the right and so on and so forth till you finish the hair. Finish the hair with hairspray to set the curls.

Doing texture with straightener, using a u hair pin wrap the hair around the pin in a figure 8 shape and once all the hair is within the pin place the straighter onto of the pin and leave for a couple seconds remove the heat and wait for the pin to cool down  and then from the top pull the pin out and brush the hair out to create a Afro type texture.

Finished Style
As I had time before the end of class, I sectioned one side of the hair into two diagonally and did the pin and straightener method about 5 times and while waiting for that to cool, I did a tight dutch braid underneath. I pulled the rest of the hair into a high ponytail and wrapped the end of the braid around the ponytail holder to hide it. Once the hair was cooled, I removed the pins and combed the hair out and then french braided it back and wrapped the hair around the ponytail, to create a textured braid and a bit of interest to the style. After this I then decided that the ponytail was too sleek so I add some texture spray and scrunched the hair until it had the texture I desired.
