The Influential Covers

So for my first influential cover I decided to not go with a fashion cover but a cover that was shown around the world, the moon landing. This special edition of LIFE magazine called To The Moon and Back covers the story of Apollo eleven and the moon landing in 1969.

The front cover of the magazine features Buzz Aldrin taken by fellow Astronaut Neil Armstrong, the inside talks about the Apollo eleven mission and includes colour photographs of the historic moon walk. The reason why I think this cover is influential and important is because it shows how far scientific research has taken us, it also is a moment that is seen as one of the greatest achievements of mankind and helped further a new generation of astronauts and people who want to  be involved with space.

These images and this event did have an effect on the 60's and 70's fashion with Vogue magazine using  Donna Mitchell as a model and photographed by Clive Arrowsmith in 1970 created this photo obviously inspired with space

This look from designer Pierre Cardin for L'Officiel in 1971 is again what was called Space age fashion,

Even in later years the space age was still inspiring designers for example in 1979 Louis Vuitton brought out a collection heavily inspired by the space theme,
