i-D Magazine

So i- D magazine is another magazine I love due to its more interesting magazine covers for example see below but where did this magazine come from well let me educate you,
At the start of the 80's exactly the year 1980 the former Vogue director Terry Jones wanted to create a magazine dedicated to fashion, music, art and of course the rising youth culture and thus i-D was born, the first issue was written up using a type writer in a hand stapled fanzine (a type of fan magazine) and since then they have evolved to the glossy magazine that still attains its street style and youth culture fan base.
It was in 1984 that Tony Elliot(Time Out) became a partner of i-D with a 51% share in the company while Mr Jones remained editor in chief and the creative director but in 2004 Mr Jones and his wife regained complete control of the company and in 2012 Vice Media acquired the magazine.
The magazine is known as being a training ground for new talent, now famous photographers who started their careers at i-D include Mario Testino, Terry Richardson, Nick Knight and Wolfgang Tillmans just to name a few.  Many famous actors and singers have appeared on the cover such as Alexander McQueen, Kanye West, Madonna, Selena Gomez, Rihanna and Scarlett Johansson just to name a few.
Why the winking face or the one covered eye, well the i-D part is because when typed into phones it forms a winking face which is again in tune with the youth culture that the magazine is a part of, so for that the models who star on the front cover do the same.

Spring/ Summer 2015 trends the rundown

The Spring Summer 2015 trends that we saw on the runway for makeup and hair from top designers such as Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren and Chloe.

This hair designed by a hairstylist called Guido for Alexander McQueen is a wet look slicked back folded not rolled chignon. The makeup was done by Pat McGrath who created this strange lacquered mask to cover the models face, the makeup underneath was a hard brown shade blended around the eye with bleached brows and flawless skin and neutral lips.

This makeup designed for Valentino by Pat McGrath (makeup) and Guido (hair) showcased clean skin with a neatural almost complemtry shade on the brow and defined brows while the hair for the look was a clean middle parting with tousled waves in a half up down do

                    \

The Giambattista Vali show looks were designed by Val Garland (makeup) and Orlando Pita(hair). The makeup was kept simple with a clean base, groomed brow with Val adding a sheen of colour to the lids and across the cheekbones while adding a gloss to the lips while the hair complemted this look with a bed head tousled low pony.

This look designed by Pat McGrath (makeup) and Eugene Souleiman (hair) was for the Stella McCartney show. The makeup was once again a clean base with a hint of the colour on the lip and a soft pink sheen on the eyes and defined brows.  The hair was crimped randomly in a few places and then smoothed back into a tight ponytail.

These looks created for the runway will affect other makeup brands who want to be able to sell to the consumer products similar to the more high priced products used in these shows so that they can recreate the look at home.
The fashion from these shows also affects other brands as high street stores will recreate similar fashions to be more budget friendly to the consumer while still letting the consumer be fashionable and up to date in the trends.

Face lace

Face lace is an intricate drawing on the skin supposed to imatate lace but if you don't have the money to buy the mask face lace you can do the look using some simple items that you probably already own.

So what do we do first cover the brows, block them out, not only does this give you more space to play with but it also helps intensifies the look. So to block the brows you want to cover the brows in spirt gum brushing the wrong the wrong way then go sideways and finally flatten the brow hairs with a spatula and if you have gone all over the place with the spirt gum pick up the excess around the brow with mme and an eyeshadow brush. To set the sprit gum use powder on a powder ruff and really press it in to the brow area then using D32 place just on top of the covered eyebrow.Powder once again with a powder puff. Warm up the foundation colour (go one colour warmer than your models skin tone) to block the eyebrow completely and only use on the eyebrow using a flat eyeshadow brush then using a fluffy brush to soften the edges.

Vogue Magazine - the Bible of Fashion

So Vogue, you've probably heard about it, its published around the world in 23 different countries by a publishing company called Conde Nast. It was created in 1892 and it is still going strong 124 years on.
In the early 1900's the magazine became more focused on women and the price rise and the pages within to be thicker and began to be exported to foreign countries like the UK , though by 1916 when World War 1 broke out that it became near impossible for Vogue to be exported to the UK so it was then decided that the UK would get their own edition of the fashion bible within 4 years of this very successful decision French Vogue was released.
It was in the early 1930's that American Vogue put a coloured photograph on it's cover, since then some of the World's most prestigious photographers contribute to the publication including Norman Parkinson, Richard Avedon, Mario Testino and Peter Lindberg just to name a few.It was in the 1960's that American Vogue who was edited now by Diana Vriland became the symbol of an era that was more creative, free and sexy. It was 1988 that Anna Wintour became the Chief Editor of Vogue who turned Vogue into the number one magazine that didn't just reflect the trends but shaped them.
Vogue magazine is normally directed at women over 25 but as the magazine has grown and evolved so has its audience with both men and women of all ages  reading its glossy pages, Vogue has always been a big magazine and one of the most reliable sources of the fashion industry, because of this the people who grace its pages are famous movie stars, models and singers as well as the occasional politician. The magazine helps to keep the world up to date  with the latest fashions, hair and make-up trends as well as interviews with its cover stars , with all this information in just one magazine why go else where to keep up to date.
